Alaïa seeks experienced Knitwear Designer for Paris; design luxury knitwear collections with technical excellence.
Role & Responsibilities
- Participate in research and development phases for knitwear collections in alignment with Alaïa's quality standards and brand values
- Create 3D mockups and propose innovative volumes, finishes, and details that embody the maison's sculptural identity
- Produce visual simulations of looks and designs using Photoshop
- Collaborate with the studio, development team, and manufacturing partners throughout the design and collection development process
- Oversee model launches and developments at manufacturing facilities, leveraging factory expertise for realisation
- Ensure model completion through finishing stages, maintaining material-model harmony and category coherence
- Prepare for and actively participate in fittings, verifying technical compliance during fittings sessions
- Attend look sessions and contribute actively to creative direction
- Maintain and update all working documentation (mood boards, collection plans, Fabric-to-Sketch references) to ensure clear information transfer
- Execute technical sketches and support design presentation materials
- Monitor progress across assigned categories and projects, reporting regularly to the Design Director
Qualifications
- 3 to 5 years of experience in a luxury fashion maison with specialisation in knitwear product category
- Strong product sensitivity and technical understanding of knitwear construction
- Proficiency with 3D design software and Photoshop
- Fluent English; Italian language is advantageous
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Skills
Experience
3 to 5 years of professional experience in knitwear design or product development within a luxury fashion house, with demonstrated expertise in collection development from concept through pre-industrialisation.
Education
Diploma or degree in fashion design, textile design, or equivalent professional qualification in fashion product development preferred.
