A. Lange & Söhne seeks CNC Wire EDM Machine Operator in Glashütte, Germany for precision watch component manufacturing.
Role & Responsibilities
- Create, manage, and control CNC programs, technical drawings, and manufacturing documentation required for production
- Operate CNC wire erosion machines with multi-machine capability to manufacture individual components and series on schedule and to specification
- Execute worker self-inspection and quality assurance within the manufacturing process
- Operate measurement equipment for series monitoring and quality verification
- Set up and prepare machines for processing with precision tooling and fixtures
- Manufacture individual components, prototypes, and production series according to work orders and specifications
- Clean fixtures and manufactured components to maintain quality standards
- Support supplementary manufacturing tasks to ensure process continuity, including replacement of cleaning fluids and materials
- Monitor technological manufacturing consistency, ensuring compliance with quality and quantity specifications
- Perform effective problem-solving and root cause analysis for any deviations
- Define, initiate, and track corrective measures for quality issues in collaboration with the quality department
- Optimise equipment utilisation and uptime across assigned machines
- Maintain optimal condition of all production equipment, tools, fixtures, measurement instruments, and machinery
- Perform machine maintenance, servicing, and minor repairs as required
- Implement booking protocols and data entry (b7/BDE system) for employee time tracking
- Record wire consumption and maintain production logbooks
- Implement productivity improvements, optimise machine utilisation rates, and support production planning
- Maximise efficient use of materials and consumables
- Comply with workplace safety regulations and operational procedures
Qualifications
- Completed vocational training in precision mechanics or metalwork (e.g., tool mechanic, industrial mechanic)
- Extensive knowledge and skill in CNC milling and erosion techniques
- Demonstrated aptitude for fine mechanical components and precision handling of small and minute parts
- Pronounced quality consciousness
- Willingness to work in shift operations
- Self-directed and methodical work approach
Skills
Experience
Proven experience in CNC erosion or milling operations within a precision manufacturing or horological context is preferred. Experience with wire EDM technology and multi-machine operations is advantageous.
Education
Completed vocational training in a precision mechanical metalworking trade (such as tool mechanics, industrial mechanics, or equivalent).
