A nylon backpack sounds almost too sensible to cause a disturbance. That is part of the appeal. Prada made a material associated with utility central to a luxury identity, with the familiar triangle sitting on a surface that could hardly pretend to be leather. I enjoy that refusal to make expense announce itself in the expected texture.
The Re-Nylon collection carries the material story into a later chapter. The Re-Nylon backpack pictured here retains the pockets, closures and practical bearing that made the original proposition so persuasive. The structured Galleria shows how differently the same house can organize a bag.
In Milan, that dialogue between the expected and the unexpected feels especially at home. For product-development roles, material choice is a working decision with consequences. Bottega Veneta’s intrecciato gives the hand an immediately legible place in the surface; Prada’s backpack asks us to look at another kind of intelligence.
