The Galleria seems to enjoy having everything arranged. Paired handles, a defined body, compartments that give the interior a little order: the appearance and the use have agreed on something. I find that quite appealing. A bag need not look restless to contain an interesting design.
Prada dates the Galleria to 2007 and connects its name to the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II in Milan. The characteristic crosshatching of Saffiano leather adds another scale of structure to the object. In the pale blue version pictured here, that texture softens what could otherwise look rather severe.
Alongside the nylon backpack, the Galleria shows a house thinking in two quite different textures. A leather-goods advisor can begin with how the opening works and where someone keeps the things they reach for most often. The Louis Vuitton Alma is another composed companion, although its curved outline organizes the space differently.
