Must-know Purdey Facts

All applicants ought to know these basics about Purdey before applying or interviewing for any role.

Founded in London in 1814, Purdey is one of Britain’s most storied makers of bespoke shotguns and rifles, giving employees the chance to work inside a house where craft heritage is central rather than decorative.
The brand received its first Royal Warrant from Queen Victoria in 1868 and has long supplied British royalty, a distinction that reinforces the exacting standards expected across workshops, retail, and client service roles.
Purdey remains deeply associated with hand-finished gunmaking and fine sporting equipment, so careers there often sit at the intersection of traditional artisanal skill, precision engineering, and ultra-high-net-worth client relationships.
Since becoming part of Richemont in 1994, Purdey has paired niche British heritage with the resources of a global luxury group, which can appeal to candidates seeking both craftsmanship and corporate mobility.
Beyond firearms, Purdey has expanded into luxury clothing, leather goods, and accessories tied to country life, creating a broader mix of opportunities than many candidates expect from the name alone.
