Must-know Michelangelo Foundation Facts

All applicants ought to know these basics about Michelangelo Foundation before applying or interviewing for any role.

The Michelangelo Foundation is a Swiss non-profit founded in 2016 by Johann Rupert and Franco Cologni to promote contemporary craftsmanship rather than operate as a traditional luxury maison.
Its flagship initiatives, including Homo Faber and the Homo Faber Guide, give employees exposure to artisans, cultural institutions, and craft businesses across Europe and beyond.
For job seekers, the organization sits at the intersection of heritage, philanthropy, and luxury, with especially relevant ties to maisons in the Richemont ecosystem.
Because its mission centers on safeguarding métiers d’art, careers there tend to suit candidates interested in curation, education, artisan networks, partnerships, and cultural project management more than conventional retail roles.
The foundation is best known publicly for Homo Faber in Venice, a major craft exhibition that brings together master artisans, designers, and luxury-adjacent creative leaders on an international stage.
Working there can offer a rare view of how craftsmanship underpins sectors from watchmaking and jewelry to fashion and interiors, including worlds associated with brands like Cartier, Vacheron Constantin, and Van Cleef & Arpels.
